Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay born August 24 72, from Long Beach CA. DuVernay received encouragement from Aunt Denise at the age of just a young girl. Aunt Denise was a nurse and worked night shifts so that she could devote her days to theatre and literature as well as art. DuVernay quickly fell in love with that 1959 West Side Story film. DuVernay was taught by her that art can be a vehicle for activism. DuVernay was trained by her mother with a conscience for social issues, and encouraged DuVernay to express herself through art. DuVernay was a resident of Compton for most of her youth, however she was able to spend summers with her extended family members living in Lowndes County Alabama. Her father was awed by the historical civil rights marches over the Edmund Pettus Bridge in the nearby town of Selma Alabama. DuVernay visited Selma during the summer months and was inspired to create a film on the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. DuVernay received her Saint Joseph High School diploma in Lakewood California. Following graduation, she attended the University of California Los Angeles where she received qualifications in English as well as African American studies. DuVernay started producing broadcast journalism when she was just a student. She began her career as an intern with CBS News, during the O.J. Simpson's trial. DuVernay recalled being instructed to examine the garbage of a jury member's home. Her disappointment was evident in the journalism assignments she was assigned and chose to change to the field of public relations. DuVernay began her professional career as a junior public relations assistant in a tiny film studio following her graduation from the college. In this role, she launched her own company for public relations called The DuVernay Agency in 1999. In addition to PR, the company developed several lifestyle websites like Urban Beauty Collective, Urban Thought Collective Urban Eye, HelloBeautiful. Autumn Riley.............................Autumn Riley was born in Los Angeles United States. Autumn Riley was born under the name of. Her fame is due to her roles on American Experience, (1987) A More Perfect Union and A More Perfect Union (2009). Autumn was in the role of Rose and Anna Payne for A More Perfect Union.
