Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell was hired by KYW Radio and TV as an Philadelphia reporter in 1967. 1996, she became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). She became a Washington general correspondent with NBC News two years later. The year 1980 marked the beginning of her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the main congressional reporter. She was made the chief White House correspondent by NBC News, in 1992. Mitchell has been a panelist as well as anchor of the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell participated on a panel during the debate in 1988 among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in journalism. In 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contribution to defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the very first reporter to write about White House stories for NBC News during the presidency of Ronald Reagan as president between 1981 and 1988. Mitchell covered a range of notable stories, including arms control the budget tax reform as well as the Iran-contra scandal. She also traveled extensively along with the President Reagan to meetings together with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world leaders.
